Youth Account

Think you are too young to have an account with LCCU? Think again! LCCU’s Youth Account is specifically designed for those between the ages of 13 and 17.

With this savings account, you not only earn interest every month, but you can also save for important purchases or things you have always wanted to do while learning good money management techniques.

Youth Accounts can be used to save for:

  • Your first car
  • College tuition
  • Presents for the holidays
  • A plane ticket
  • Or whatever you would like to save for!

Opening a Youth Account also gives you access to:

  • Free credit consultation
  • An ATM card
  • A member photo ID card

What do I need to open a Youth Account?

To use Latino Community Credit Union’s services you must first become a member.

To become a member, you will need to:

Present a government issued photo identification card from any country

  • Open a savings account with the minimum deposit
  • Become a member of the Latino Community Development Center, a non-profit organization whose mission is to provide financial education to the Latino community
  • The Youth account earns interest, so you will need a Social Security Number (SSN) or an Individual Tax Identification Number (ITIN) to pay taxes in the United States. Any of our representatives can help you apply for an ITIN

What is saving and why should I save?

By saving your money you can make a large purchase that you wouldn’t normally be able to afford or save for your future.

Your money will earn interest in your savings account with the credit union. Interest is the reward or earnings you receive for depositing your money in the Youth Account.

What are some good saving tips?

It doesn’t take much effort. If you save $10 a week, you will have $520 by the end of the year, not including the interest you will earn.

Don’t carry a lot of cash because you have a greater risk of spending it, losing it or being robbed.

How can I access the account?

You can access your account online, in person by visiting your branch, by phone with Latino Direct or you can use your card wherever the following are accepted:
